“I AM THE VINE; YOU ARE THE BRANCHES. IF YOU REMAIN IN ME AND I IN YOU, YOU WILL BEAR MUCH FRUIT; APART FROM ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.”
John 15:5

OUR HOMESCHOOL FELLOWSHIP
We are a group of families who homeschool. We have found it increasingly difficult to stay true to the call to homeschool while continually being pulled from one class to the next; one activity to the other; one sporting event to the next; or one playdate to the other. So many GOOD things to choose from, but at a cost; the cost of being together, as a family, learning and growing and communicating.
Vineyard Homeschool Fellowship offers fellowship opportunities which enrich your homeschool and demand only as much time and attention as you are willing to give. We have chosen to use the Charlotte Mason philosophy of education as the inspiration for our activities.
We think Charlotte Mason’s “extra-curricular” activities (not considered “extra” in the CM world…but rather essential enrichment & leisure) work well in a group setting and will enhance the learning you’re doing at home. We don’t require or expect those who join to adapt their homeschooling to this methodology, but believe that all will be benefited by the natural learning experience which is the nature of a CM education.
We embrace the “few but consistent” ideal for our fellowship. We strive to offer just enough so that moms are able to fellowship with each other and children are able to gather together regularly enough to form good and solid friendships, but not so much that you are pulled away from “home” schooling. Our monthly, quarterly, occasional, and annual fellowship opportunities are intentionally planned for meaningful fellowship. We are seeking after the joy that comes from Deuteronomy 11:19:”Teach them [God’s Words] to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

OUR LEADERS
MRS H
Mr. H and I have been homeschooling since 2000 and have since graduated 3 of our children, watched 2 of them sucessfully navigate college and 1 follow his chosen career path, and are still going strong with 6 more at home. We have participated in the gamut of homeschool affiliations, from charters to umbrella schools to paid community programs to independent filing. All have served us well for the time the Lord had us there and we are thankful for the wide-range of opportunities He has provided for us on this homeschooling journey.
As administrator and overseer of our homeschool, Mr. H has provided support and served as a sounding board and anchor to help me (Mrs. H) to keep my feet on the ground and have the proper focus when planning and educating the children. He has also taken over a couple of subjects when time and/or mom-resistance dictated it.
As primary teacher and manager of our homeschool, I have invested much time and energy into the study of educational philosophy and practice. I have implemented methods from traditional, classical, unit study, and Charlotte Mason schools of thought in search of the educational philosophy which best suits me and which best fits our family. At the end of all the searching, I have come to realize that what fits us best is REAL-LIFE learning. For us, most of these REAL-LIFE learning methods are found in the Classical and Charlotte Mason philosophies. In our home we use elements of both.
We value books; books written by authors who are passionate and knowledgeable about their subject matter. We value memory work; memory work which is age-appropriate and relevant to the learning at hand. We value God’s Word; we therefore establish a systematic, Bible reading program from the earliest years. We value Creation; we take the time to purposefully study nature and spend meaningful time out of doors. We also spend time studying geography so we can more fully understand the world in which we live. We value life skills; we spend more time learning skills that will serve us for a lifetime and less time cutting & pasting or stringing macaroni noodles. We value communication; we have a systematic way of learning penmanship from printing to cursive, and we take time to read great literature to help us learn to use words well. We also study languages and grammar to aid in communication. We value our place in history; we recognize that God has us here, at this place in history, for His purpose and that we are a part of His big picture timeline. For this reason, we chronicle our studies on an historical timeline. We value education for the sake of education. We do not seek to learn for a standardized test or for a college entrance exam; we seek to learn for knowledge, understanding, and wisdom for our own sake and for His glory.
As the director of Vineyard Country School and Vineyard Homeschool Fellowship I hope to put my experience to good use by supporting the homeschool families that the Lord brings to us through these programs.
MRS D
My name is Mrs. D and I am happily married now for 17 years to my husband Mr. D. We have 3 children ages 13, 11, and 8. My homeschooling journey officially began when my oldest son was 5. I have been blessed with an amazing support of friends that I have learned and gleaned from throughout my continued journey of schooling my three children at home. My husband and I consider it a high calling from the Lord to train up our children daily in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 is a beautiful passage from God’s word and His instruction to us in keeping Him first in all we do. My favorite aspect of schooling my kids at home is learning alongside them. I rarely feel as though I am teaching them but more so learning with them. I am thankful for the community of Vineyard and the blessing it has been to our whole family. One of my favorite subjects in school growing up was art and I still love it! Teaching the art lesson at FAF has been a wonderful privilege. Watching the kids get excited about art and creating a piece that is all their own is such a joy! I am thankful for this role and I hope to continue it as long our family is a part of this Vineyard community. Thank you so much for allowing me to teach your kids!
MRS H.
Our family’s homeschool journey began nearly four years ago, shortly after Mr. H and I moved to the Temecula Valley with our children. We have been married nearly twenty years and have three children spread into preschool, elementary, and high school. I had previously been teaching in public schools and we enrolled our children into the local schools here, but felt we were being called to something different. Months after settling into this new town, the Lord revealed what He had been preparing our hearts for all along: educating at home, with Him as the core. After much research on homeschool philosophies, I learned to become a student of my children and embrace the blessing of being able to customize each of their educational paths. Our homeschool has evolved into a Charlotte Mason inspired, classical style that fits us wonderfully. Days are filled with deep dives into truth, beauty, and virtue. We love and value fine art, music, new languages, handicrafts, and poetry tea times. Field trips, science experiments, and life skills round out our cozy rhythm. Joining VCHF has been a gift, bringing beautiful friendships, enriching activities, and lasting memories into our lives. After leading scout troops for over a decade on outdoor adventures, I enthusiastically volunteered to coordinate Vineyard Nature Days. I love watching all of our children come together to explore God’s wondrous creation outdoors…and hope to see you there!
MRS M
My homeschool journey began in 1993 when I was told that my 6 year old son had ADHD and would need to take Ritalin. At first I was apprehensive. Could I really do this? I thought only a teacher could teach. Fast forward 28 years and I am in the final years of teaching my last student. There have been many challenges along the way but the Lord has always met me there and we’ve gotten through it.
Being part of a homeschool group has supplied the community my children needed to make friends and participate in fun and interesting activities. We’ve also had the pleasure of being in many co-ops through the years as well as having classes in our home. I’ve enjoyed homeschooling and it’s a lifestyle my family likes too.
At present, I am the High School coordinator for Vineyard Country School. I help organize activities for our high schoolers as well as arrange field trips for our homeschool group.
